    Chappellet Vineyard was founded in 1967 by Donn and Molly Chappellet and the family has been producing extraordinary wine from their legendary Pritchard Hill Estate for more than 50 years. They are proud that third-generation vintner, Aubrey Chappellet Flagler, was a member of the Notre Dame class of 2020. The Double C Chardonnay is a bottling that is not in general distribution. It reflects the quality and exceptional value that is true of every wine that bears the Chappellet name.

    In the 1970s, Jack Novak and his wife, Mary, visited Napa Valley with their five children and fell in love with the rural beauty and relaxed pace of St. Helena. There, they discovered Spottswoode, an idyllic property with exquisite gardens and a long-established pre-Prohibition vineyard. After Jack’s sudden passing in 1977, Mary began farming the vineyard organically, and after highly acclaimed vintages in the mid-to-late 1980s and three consecutive years on Wine Spectator’s coveted Top 100 wines list, Mary began to exclusively produce Spottswoode’s own wines.

Hand harvesting and the judicious blending of several different Pinot Noir clones produced a wine with aromas and flavors of dried cherries, rose petals, and a hint of dark chocolate with balanced acidity.

    In our quest to find the right soul of our wine, we got in touch with World Class Winemaker, Jean Hoefliger. Jean Hoefliger is a man with a quixotic mission: He is inspired and driven by the quest for creative perfection while knowing full well that it can never be achieved. An artisan who has always been motivated to push the envelope, he relies on a commitment to constant scientific research matched by an open-minded, entrepreneurial creativity.
